Water Sampling Procedure in Pharmaceutical Industry
Prepare
- Before collecting samples, identify outlets to sample, and label sample containers with sampling date and time, and type of testing, schedule, sterile bottles and stopwatch.
Safety
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and a nose mask.
Sanitize
- Sanitize your hands with 70% IPA.
Drain
- Open the sampling valve and let water drain for 1-2 minutes or 20-30 seconds.
Rinse
- Rinse the bottle with the water to be tested only chemical analysis.
- No rinse required for microbiology analysis.
Collect
- Chemical analysis: Collect the sample in a glass bottle. TOC test performs for chemical analysis.
- Microbiological analysis: Collect about 200 ml of sample in a sterile glass bottle, leaving enough air space for mixing.
Label
- Label the container with the sample identity, sampling point, date and time of sampling, and what the sample is being tested for.
Store
- Store the sample in 2-8°C temperature for microbiology Analysis.
