Water Sampling Procedure in Pharmaceutical Industry

Prepare

  • Before collecting samples, identify outlets to sample, and label sample containers with sampling date and time, and type of testing, schedule, sterile bottles and stopwatch.

Safety

  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and a nose mask.

Sanitize

  • Sanitize your hands with 70% IPA.

Drain

  • Open the sampling valve and let water drain for 1-2 minutes or 20-30 seconds.

Rinse

  • Rinse the bottle with the water to be tested only chemical analysis.
  • No rinse required for microbiology analysis.

Collect

  • Chemical analysis: Collect the sample in a glass bottle. TOC test performs for chemical analysis.
  • Microbiological analysis: Collect about 200 ml of sample in a sterile glass bottle, leaving enough air space for mixing.

Label

  • Label the container with the sample identity, sampling point, date and time of sampling, and what the sample is being tested for.

Store

  • Store the sample in 2-8°C temperature for microbiology Analysis.
