Tablet Bed Temperature in Coating Process

Firstly, the definition of tablet bed temperature:

This is the temperature of the tablets inside the coating machine.

Here there is a difference between the inlet air temp and the tablet bed temp:

The temperature of the incoming air is what heats the tablets . It comes from the air that is pumped into the machine through the air handling unit. The air is drawn from the outside and purified through a primary filter, then a very high quality hepafilter, and it passes through a steam unit and is in a cooling unit. Here we call it The incoming air is called (dry+clean air) pure, dry air dehumidified.

As for the tablet bed temperature, it is the temperature of the tablets , and here we are talking about that we heat the tablets in order to dry the surface of the tablets from the solution that will be sprayed during the coating to prevent any problems occurring during the process..

Here we come to a very important point in the coating machine, which is how to control the tablets temperature through the machine?

It is possible, by manually controlling the temperature of the inlet air through the machine’s control unit or automatically, to control the temperature of the outgoing air, which will thus set a specific temperature for me that I need for the tablets, meaning that I say to the machine, “I want the temperature of the tablet bed, for example, 42 degrees in the machine.” It adjusts the temperature of the incoming air automatically without any control from me.

What is the inverse relationship between spray rate and tablet bed temperature?

Here I will tell you that the two are completely related to each other, meaning that if the spray rate increases, the temperature of the tablets decreases, in the case of a decrease in the spray rate, the temperature of the tablets increases, because very simply, if the tablet reaches a large amount of solution, its temperature decreases, and if a little solution reaches the tablet, its temperature rises, and here I am thinking of my words about proportionality. Between the temperature and spraying, and also the speed of the pan, which we talked about before..

There is an important factor that can affect the temperature of the tablets which is the distance between the guns and the tablets . The shorter the distance, the lower the temperature, and the greater the distance, the higher the temperature. Why does this happen?

If the distance is close, the solution will reach the tablets more and faster, and thus the wetting of the tablets with the solution will be greater, and thus the temperature of the tablets will decrease, , if the distance between the tablets and the guns increases, the temperature of the tablets will rise because part of the solution spray is lost and dried.

We will reach a very important point, which is the amount of inlet air flow and its effect on the tablets temperature.

The amount of air is in cubic meters per hour and depends on the machine and its liter capacity, as well as the amount of tablets inside the machine, the type of solution used, and the condition of the tablets.

The smaller the capacity of the machine, the smaller the amount of air . The larger the amount of tablets inside the machine, the greater the amount of air used.

But here is an important point: the more air we supply, the more heat the tablets will have, and sometimes in preparations that are affected by heat, it is very possible to compensate for the heat by increasing the amount of air in order to obtain proper drying of the tablets and no sticking or other problems will occur.
